With survivor and staff interviews, public records, government contracts, and financial documents, we are building extensive public files on Texas residential youth facilities.
What We Do
The Facility Files is an independent investigative project exposing abuse and corruption hidden inside Texas youth treatment centers.
We collect and share:
Survivor & Staff Stories – first-hand accounts from those who lived or worked inside
Public Records & Court Payments – following the money from counties to facilities
Business & Tax Documents – uncovering shell companies and hidden ownership
Investigative Reporting – connecting the dots between power, profit, and abuse
Every youth facility in Texas will have a file.
Why We Do It
Every year, thousands of Texas teens are placed in residential treatment centers. Many are promised help but instead face isolation, overmedication, and neglect. Behind closed doors, facilities profit while youth are silenced.
We are opening the files to show what really happened.
